Less Stressful Moves with Pods Storage
We recently moved from one part of the city to another. We always hired a moving companies for our previous moves. The movers would come in with a big team and start moving and packing multiple rooms at the same time. It always felt like I had no control of what was happening, in spite of that fact that it was my stuff and my house. Most of the time, we would have the majority of things packed ahead of time and let the movers do the big stuff. The more we packed, the more unrecognizable the rooms would become and we could barely move around all the stacks of boxes. As we had no room to move during our weeks of packing, we longed for a one room to just stack all the boxes where they would be out of the way. If only we would have known about pods storage. Now that we are working professionals, we hire movers. That is just what we do.
We decided to try something new this time. We went with pods storage, after researching it a bit. We did not have to do much. After a quick scheduling call, the company brought the storage container to our driveway. It was a big square metal thing (they come in different sizes) with big doors and a huge lock. For eight days, that pods storage unit sat conveniently for our moving needs. We were able to take our time packing. We would pack a couple boxes after we would get home each evening and could stack them directly in the storage unit. We did not have to rush as we had done with so many of our other moves. We decided to hire some people to take care of all the heavy stuff and furniture moving for us. The pods storage company gave us a recommendation, so we did not even have to do any of the leg work to find movers. The day before the container was scheduled to be picked up, the movers moved our furniture and heavy boxes for us. The container was picked up the next day and immediately delivered to our new abode.
Now moving day is always hectic. Having to unload and unpack everything in new place the same day that you just packed the old place is exhausting. The pods storage container can sit in the new location for a few days, allowing you to slowly unpack it. Our furniture and heavy boxes were offloaded by movers (we hired the same guys we hired in the packing phase) that day. We slowly unloaded the rest at our leisure, as we got settled in that week. The pods storage guys brought a truck and took the unit away when we finally emptied it. You can also store your unit via the pods storage company in an air conditioned and heated warehouse, if you are making a long distance move.
In the end, it was much cheaper and much more relaxing to use pods storage than a traditional moving company. We had the storage unit for a total of three weeks and it ran us about the same amount we would have paid to lease a U haul for a weekend. Pods storage helped us be more organized, because we could take our time and situate and unpack things more efficiently.
